JCDecaux’s ongoing commitment to sustainability

JCDecaux New Zealand is launching a new programme of work to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability.

JCDecaux Global has a proud reputation for leadership in this area – it was the first Out of Home business to join RE100, an initiative for 100% renewable energy, it is rated A in the CDP list and has a AAA Morgan Stanley Rating for CSR.  In April 2022, JCDecaux New Zealand announced that it has achieved carbon zero status with Toitu Envirocare NZ, in addition to using 100% renewable energy across its business and roadside network (as part of the RE100 commitment). JCDecaux NZ is the only NZ Out of Home business to be a part of RE100 and the only Large Format business in NZ that is carbon zero.

In response to advertiser interest in the evolving sustainability debate, JCDecaux Earth is an ongoing programme of work where JCDecaux as a business demonstrates its commitment, over and above simply gaining accreditation. The entire digital network is under review with low emission LED lighting being installed and now all 6 x3s and 12x3 Large Format skins are printed on PVC free future banner, as standard. Advertisers can now opt to include a footer strip on digital and static sites, that acknowledges that they are working with a sustainable media partner – an opportunity that many brands are keen to embrace as they want to tell their own sustainable stories and demonstrate sustainable partnerships.

JCDecaux Earth is planned as an ongoing focus for the day-to-day operation of the business – and JCDecaux plans to share more actions over the coming months, with the market and to consumers via its Large Format network.
