Out of Home Reports Record Start to 2025
The Out of Home Media Association Aotearoa (OOHMAA) has today announced an exceptional start to the year, with Q1 2025 revenue reaching $49.4 million, a 16% year on year increase and the strongest first-quarter result in the industry's history.
This strong start to 2025 builds on the momentum of a standout 2024, with SMI data showing Out of Home outpaced all other media channels, including Online, with 11.8% revenue growth despite challenging market conditions.
Key highlights from Q1 2025 include:
Digital Out of Home (DOOH) remains the primary driver of growth, delivering $37.9 million and representing 77% of total Out of Home revenue for the quarter.
* Programmatic Digital Out of Home (pDOOH) continues to gain traction, generating $4 million in revenue and accounting for 11% of all DOOH spend, signalling a shift towards more data-led, targeted digital placements.
"To start the year with this level of growth, particularly after such a tough year across the media landscape, is a testament to the resilience, innovation, and unity within the Out of Home sector," says OOHMAA CEO Natasha O'Connor. "Advertisers recognise the channel's unmatched ability to deliver impactful, real-time messaging at scale and across every stage of the marketing funnel. And with CAML (Calibre Audience Measurement Limited) launching New Zealand's first industry-wide Audience Measurement System in early Q2, we're confident this will further strengthen the foundations already in place to make 2025 a truly landmark year for Out of Home."
*Programmatic revenue primarily includes delivery via DSP’s but may also encompass revenue from campaigns activated directly through supply-side ad servers.
