NZ’s borders opened up to international travellers - what’s happening at our Airports?

After almost two years of disruption, there is positive news regarding airport travel. At the end of July, NZ’s borders opened up to international travellers, removing all restrictions. Kiwis have been able to travel internationally for a  couple of months now, and there is reported record demand for Australia and the Islands during winter.

Reporting confirms a bumper July in JCDecaux Airport with local school holidays and the ski season. Passenger numbers were up +24% from June. 1.8M passengers travelled through JCDecaux Airports during July (1.2M domestic and 625K international). Queenstown Airport saw a massive +58% growth, Auckland +21% and Christchurch +18%.

JCDecaux expects this trend to continue, with international visitors starting to arrive, and spring approaching. Kiwis are continuing to embrace local holidays and planning international trips in the coming months.
